Review novel The Nightingale

Hello guys, this time I will discuss about a novel entitled "The Nightingale" written by Kristin Hannah which amounts to 488 pages.


 This novel has a background in World War II where Germany ruled France, Isabelle Rossignol, whose father did not allow her to go to live and accompanied her sister Vianne Mauriac who lived with her son, Sophie in a small town called Carriveau in the Paris suburb where Vianne's husband , Antoine must go to war to defend France. But when the war situation developed, a German officer had to live with them. Unable to stand a house with an enemy, Isabelle decided to leave home to join the French rebels. Successful with his missions, Isabelle became a famous French secret agent with a passcode "The Nightingale" taken from his name Rossignol which means nightingale. After the death of Isabelle, Vianne stayed in the city of Carriveau for the safety of her child in a difficult life. In a state of urgency, Vianne finally realized that he also had to take part in the war secretly. Despite having striking differences in character, the relationship between the two sisters was tempted by the development of a war situation that brought them to have to face a frightening situation and make a tough decision.

Synopsis
 Vienne feels comfortable with her life. Has a loving husband, a beautiful daughter who loves her, lives well enough — though not rich — from her job as a teacher and her husband as a delivery post. Until one morning, her husband was obliged to report being a frontline guard soldier in war. Isabelle, a young girl who is very dissident. Issued from several schools because it violated the rules set, in the end, he returned to Paris, to his father's place. Unfortunately, his father even "threw" Isabelle to where his brother, Vianne. They were reunited. After Vianne was unable to be a sister to Isabelle and Isabelle denied that each of her sisters broke. Isabelle intends to do something useful than just washing dirty dishes. The climax was when World War II erupted and the German army began to rule France, so that every soldier was required to stay in every house of the citizens. Captain Beck, a handsome young man who was "kind-hearted" and Isabelle did not feel at home with one roof underneath, spreading hatred so frankly without any fear, while Vianne who was afraid of Beck let the man take over one of his rooms, and always worried about the impact of Isabelle's behavior on Sophie. For a long time, Isabelle was unable to resist her anger at Beck's presence, so she decided to go and go to war in her own way. Vianne was relieved by Isabelle's decision but felt lonely being left alone with the Nazi army. Leaving Vianne and Sophie with the Nazi army.
